I turned on my audio device (sharp) and i listened cd, cassette and radio.

Unwrapping a shrink wrapped cassette.

Play and stop button sounds on the listed tape recorderrecorded at 96khz/24bits into an rme fireface ufx interface using a line audio cm3 microphone.

Recording is a 24 bit stereo wav file. Literally using a "motivational speaker" tape found in a box (full of several more of these god awful things!) while digging through the neighborhood trash to test out and setup a pitch-shifted vocal patch for my noisecore project. Effects used: danelectro fish & chips eq, korg ax3g multi-effect, and alesis nanoverb direct to sound card. Processed in goldwave(compression to reduce peaks and fading on the beginning/end. ).

Sound output from playback of an old blank/empty type 1 audio tape that has an undulating pattern of noise. The volume hasn't been adjusted, so this is true to the amount of noise present in a tape recording.

I recorded a bunch of guitar noodling to a fostex x-26 four-track recorder, then recorded the tape to my computer with goldwave wherein i cut out a segment which was looped and then processed with reverb effects and other vsts in fl studio.

I found this old c-60 cassette labelled "xx" in a local thrift store. (i like to collect found sound recordings-- sometimes there's some pretty weird stuff!) well, it turns out i found some guy's old tape recording involving him having sex while blasting some awful anne murray cover album. . . The recording is the post-sex dialogue, right after that final song fades out. . . At the end, the woman asks something like "are you going to get your tape recorder?" and the guy seems to become flustered, saying something like "i wasn't recording, it's off!" (i'm paraphrasing. ) i guess he thought she realised he was recording it or something. Anyways, after this, the recording is cut off. You can also hear a toilet flush, and some sort of "squeaky toy" noise during the recording. Recorded direct to soundcard, playing back the tape on a cheap hand-held cassette player. Edited w/ compression to reduce peaking.

Amateur guitar plucking of a tune of my own making, mainly on one string up and down the fret board. Recorded august or september 1984 when i was 15/16. Cassette is a basf cr2-90 (1 of 3). Recorded on my fidelity hi-fi tower, with microphones jacked in. The extra guitar strums near the end were actually unrelated, a technical glitch made an impression of the previous recording to bleed through. Audio has been uploaded using alesis usb tape deck link to audacity, no editing or noise removal was utilised.

Bought an old sony walkman from an antique mall. It was advertised as "radio works, but cassette player does not play. " this was true, and i was surprised at the noises it made when you tried to play tapes, though whether or not you have a tape or not it makes these types of noises when you switch it to the metal/chrome setting with dolby b on. You can add a 60 hertz hum if you touch any of the metal parts, and can somewhat mess the sound by messing with the spindles as they move. I may upload some more samples of this at one point, with cleaner recording of each of the sounds you can create.

Amateur guitar play from an old cassette (memorex 120, 1 of 2) recorded in 1984 when i was 15. Plucking 1 or 2 strings to a tune of my own making. This was an experimental recording session, using two tape recording machines. (ghetto blaster & hi-fi tower) take - 3 with takes 1 & 2 impositions playing, creating a final 3 track recording. A sample of church bells from a pamplona side street. Recorded in 1985 on a sony walkman using the in-built mics. Recorded onto tdk d90 cassette and stored since then in damp cellars, sheds, and long forgotten drawers. Just today transferred to digital using my fathers old decca legato tape player which we purchased in the early 70s to enable us to send messages to my uncle who had emigrated to australia. Dad says the player cost over £30 then which was more than a weeks wages at the time. I was inter-railing around europe at the time but the recording seems to stop in pamplona. Six weeks later all my money and passport was stolen while in crete and i made my way home via the british consulate in athens.

From modular to tape to computer. . . Sounds degraded, murky and. . .

Just some noise of my casio as-51r cassette player i had left over when i had taken what i was after from my recordings. Perhaps there's some use for it, i honestly don't know, but i thought i would upload in case someone needs it. Recorded with a samsung galaxy s21, edited with audacity 2. 4. 2.

A technical problem i had with my technics stereo cassette desk rs-5 where playback would deliver this fading squarewave at maximum volume. Apparently, it could have been an issue with the tape header wearing out. Thought i might as well upload it here, as i'm not sure anyone will be able to create this sound again. Note, this sound was de-amplifiied by 10 db in audacity 3. 1. 3. Simply put, the raw file was incredibly loud. If you're curious enough, you can increase it back up to its original volume, though i wouldn't advise it.

This was a tape cassette and case thrown against a wall, this represents a solid plastic object being thrown or dropped from a height and smashing on the floor with a piece of plastic breaking off and hitting the ground for the 2nd impact.

Sound is a short clip from a microcassette field recording of my next-door neighbors talking outside. It has a seemingly young girl exclaiming "he looks like a damn prick!" and then some other things i don't remember or couldn't discern. I have no idea what they were talking about. . .

Field recording from sault ste marie, mi. Noon-hour traffic on a 25 mph street cars passing over a bridge. Little or no wind noise. Recorded on a tascam 4-track with a sure hi-z mic, onto a maxell cassette. Circa 1990'sconverted to ; 16bit 44. 1 dual mono (not true stereo).
